Originally from Chile, Tomas moved to the US on his own at the age of 17 with a full academic and athletic scholarship to finish his last year of high school at South Kent School in Connecticut. His decision to move to a new country to further his education was not based on desire, but on necessity. Tomas had to decline a professional contract from the biggest soccer team in Chile in order to continue his academic career, and later pursue higher education. Unfortunately, in Chile you cannot study and compete at the highest level simultaneously. That's when he realized that his future was not meant to be there. Even though becoming a professional soccer player was his dream - having a higher education was his priority.  Due to his great performances on and off the pitch, he was offered several scholarships to play Division 1 College Soccer. After five official visits he decided to attend Iona College, also on a full ride. There he spent the next five years of his life, where he had the chance to continue to play at the highest level, meet his fiancé, and become immersed in his new passion - the financial world.

Being the captain of the Men's Soccer Team, Tomas lead Iona to its first ever MAAC Championship, as well as their first ever NCAA Tournament Appearance. Not only did he have the chance to excel at the collegiate level, but he also excelled in the NPSL and USL2 (semi professional level), which ultimately led to him getting invitations to train with three professional teams, the Seattle Sounders, DC United, and NYCFC.

On the other hand - due to Iona's proximity to Manhattan, their recognized business school and Alumni Network - Tomas had the chance to gain real business and world experience. Throughout his college career, he was recruited and participated in four highly selective internships. One of them being Creative Financial Planning.

Tomas completed his undergraduate degree at Iona College, getting a Double Major in Finance and Business Administration. With a GPA of 3.892, he graduated with honors and received the "Magna Cum Laude" accolade. Furthermore, he decided to go back to Iona for another year to receive his Financial Management MBA. Tomas graduated with honors and a GPA of 3.945, even higher than his undergraduate degree.

Immediately after Tomas moved to the US and opened up his eyes to a broader world full of opportunities, he became interested in the business world, finance in particular. Growing up in a developing country allowed him to acknowledge and understand the lack of opportunities, as well as the hardships people face on a daily basis when it comes to personal finance. Being aware of this problem, Tomas' mission and vision took a turn. His new goal was to acquire as much knowledge as possible to be in a position where he could help the people and community around him; to spread his knowledge and expertise; and to help others become financially literate and financially free. Tomas is ready to take on the next challenge, as he has joined the CFP Team full time, becoming a Financial Analyst.
